What about What’s On events listings? Although it isn’t at the ‘glamorous’ end of what we do in our community magazines – the humble What’s On listing is a key element to every single, monthly issue of them.
Tucked away near the back – not because we want to hide it, but so that readers always know where to find them – the What’s On listing is a valuable resource for many of our readers.
It’s been with us since the very beginning. We want to be the place for news and information about that specific community – events and activities are an obvious part of the information we can distribute on a monthly basis.
We allow anyone, individual, group or business to let us know an event which is happening – and we don’t charge for inclusion. Although we don’t guarantee inclusion, with every magazine copy date we do carefully curate the master list of events, to create a bespoke listing which is most relevant to that particular town/village.
Our What’s On Elsewhere – is a page of event details which are not happening directly in the place itself, but are slightly further afield.
While, we also have a listing which gives more specific listings, only relevant to that title. Think of ‘What’s On in Queen’s Hall’ (for Cuckfield), ‘What’s On at Village Centre’ (Hurstpierpoint), ‘What’s On in King Edward Hall (Lindfield)’, ‘What’s On at Adastra Hall’ (Hassocks) and – for Haywards Heath – we have a generic page of ‘What’s On in Haywards Heath’ for a listing including all venues around the town.
For advertisers, we make sure we include events which their advertising is promoting, and we do make sure those always make the final cut. That’s a secondary benefit of advertising your local event with us.
I have heard of readers who go straight to the What’s On pages, and with the other hand, they write on their calendar events that they need to know about. That’s what we do; we connect local people to the communities in which they live and work.
