Bringing Juicy Lemons to Lindfield

Juicy Lemons Creative Studio provides a calming, creative space; giving us the chance to step away from the hustle and bustle; to take a breath and to take time to make something truly wonderful, whether that be in the form of clay creations, connections made along the way or a sense of inner calm. Whether you feel you are creative or not, we have something for everyone (although, we believe everyone is creative in some way, even if it hasn’t been discovered yet).

Derived from ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’, Juicy Lemons began in Buxted, East Sussex, and has recently moved to Lindfield. Run by Catherine, a resident of Lindfield for many years, an artist who has been sculpting, painting, drawing and getting creative for as long as she can remember. Like many of us, she has struggled through difficult times in her life and there was a period of time when her creativity took a back seat. It was during Covid, when things were particularly tough, that she was given a ball of clay. She took time to mould it and create a small sculpture. This not only led to her reigniting her love of creating, but made her realise the intrinsic connection this had to her overall wellbeing. This led to something even bigger and her wish to set up a space where others could experience this for themselves.

“Our studio offers all forms of ceramic art for all levels,” Catherine explained. “Equipped with all you need for creating with clay, from hand built pottery, pottery throwing on the wheel to sculpting. We keep our classes small to ensure everyone gets the support they need and the use of a wheel throughout their time in the studio.

On entering the quiet garden setting, you will find a large studio, a second smaller studio, an outdoor space for sitting out and for raku firings, plus a separate kiln room with two kilns for regular firings.

“We are very excited to be a part of the wonderful art community that we have in our village and look forward collaborating with other artists and local studios.” Maybe you have some previous experience of ceramics and are looking for a space to continue your creative journey? Catherine would love to hear from you. There are studio sessions where you can create alongside each other. Juicy Lemons offers fully independent sessions, or a hybrid of tutoring and independent work or weekly classes for all levels with a tutor. “We encourage each person to embark on their own creative journey at their own pace. We don’t prescribe what you create and the results are truly amazing!”

The private workshops are known as great fun! Bookings available for individuals or for larger groups wanting to gather, whether for a special occasion or just to hang out with friends, family or colleagues, while getting creative. No experience needed and we can cater for a range of group sizes with BYO or refreshments provided. Daytimes or evenings available.
