Just outside Haywards Heath lies a little slice of
countryside created with dogs in mind. Field for
Dogs is the vision of local dog trainer, Gemma
Sawtell, who wanted to give owners a place where
walks feel easy, joyful and completely theirs to share
with their dogs.
Step inside the gate and the worries of the
outside world fade away. Here it’s just you, your dog
and 3.5 acres to explore together. Some dogs zoom
across the open grass with uncontainable delight;
others nose through the trees and logs following
scents only they can detect. For many dogs, it’s the
only time they can truly relax, free to be themselves
without distraction.
But the field is as much for the owners as it is
for their four-legged friends. Gemma understands
that a happy walk is a shared experience and has
included thoughtful touches to the space. Parking
is right inside the field, so you can let your dog out safely
the moment you arrive. A path leads you around the
field in every season, while a shelter offers cover from
showers or a shady spot to pause together before your
dog continues their adventure.
Gemma said: “Creating Field for Dogs has been a
dream come true. All dogs are welcome regardless of breed or size, including XL Bullies. I wanted to give dogs
a space where they can run, sniff and play exactly as they
wish, while their humans can enjoy the simple pleasure
of being part of that with them.”
